Opera Prima v2 – The Art of Sound in a Bookshelf Speaker
The evolution of bookshelf speakers has always followed a fundamental principle: finding the right balance between compact dimensions and excellent sound performance. Opera Prima v2 was born from this need, the result of a long study on the internal resonances of the cabinet and their implications on music reproduction.
Each speaker is, in its own way, a small confined environment, exactly like a listening room. For this reason, the development team has rethought the proportions of the cabinet, reducing unwanted resonances and improving the distribution of frequencies. The adoption of an internal absorber in high-density polyurethane has allowed to reduce internal reflections, making the sound more defined, articulated and detailed even at low volumes.
The design of Opera Loudspeakers Prima v2 was driven by the goal of offering an immersive and natural listening experience. The attention to detail, from the construction of the cabinet to the selection of drivers and crossover components, is what makes this speaker a benchmark in its category.
Suitable for both high-end Hi-Fi systems and refined home theater setups, this speaker stands out for its ability to adapt to different musical genres, reproducing each track with extraordinary fidelity and dynamics.
A piece of furniture designed to reduce interference to a minimum
The attention paid to the Opera Prima v2 cabinet translates into a solid and refined construction. The cabinet, made of high-quality materials, has been designed to reduce unwanted vibrations to a minimum. The adoption of strategic internal reinforcements has made it possible to avoid sound colorations, maintaining a pure and transparent timbre output.
The sidewalls have been optimized to limit unwanted pressure emission, while the bottom panel is slightly inclined to minimize any interference. The speaker passage has also been internally milled, reducing the acoustic tunnel effects that could alter the midrange response.
The rear connectors offer maximum versatility in cable connection, ensuring a stable, high-quality connection with any amplifier.
A refined speaker system, the result of collaboration with Scan Speak
One of the distinctive elements of Opera Prima v2 is the quality of its drivers. The Italian company has chosen to collaborate with Scan Speak, one of the most renowned manufacturers in the world, to develop transducers capable of guaranteeing extremely faithful musical reproduction.
The 180 mm woofer, with black anodized aluminum cone and ferrite magnet, offers an extraordinary combination of speed, dynamics and control. This driver has been optimized with a generous excursion and a magnetic pole design studied to guarantee a linear response even at high volumes.
The 26mm soft dome tweeter with double ferrite magnet ensures a delicate and natural high-frequency output, without ever being fatiguing. To improve its performance, the materials inside the rear chamber have been modified, obtaining a further reduction in resonances and better damping of standing waves.
The horizontal dispersion has been precisely calibrated to deliver a wide and immersive soundstage, ensuring impeccable tonal balance in any listening environment.
A crossover that enhances transparency and timbre coherence
The crossover filter of Opera Prima v2 is the result of careful design work, aimed at ensuring a smooth transition between woofer and tweeter without any timbre discontinuity. The filter order has been calibrated taking into account the overall acoustic response, with particular attention to the acoustic phase near the crossover frequency, set at 2500 Hz.
Only the highest quality components have been selected for its construction: Vishay resistors and Mundorf capacitors, which ensure exceptional transparency and uncompromising sonic fidelity. The inductors, designed to precise specifications, help keep the signal clean and free from distortion.
The circuit board layout has been designed to avoid any alteration of the response, ensuring that each speaker reproduces the sound exactly as it was designed. Finally, the internal wiring uses high purity copper to preserve every detail of the recording.
From the point of view of instrumental measurements, Opera Prima v2 stands out for a sensitivity of 90 dB, which makes it easily driveable by a wide range of amplifiers. The nominal impedance of 6 ohms, with a minimum of 3.8 ohms, allows compatibility even with good quality tube amplifiers.
The frequency response extends from 50 Hz to 21 kHz (-3 dB), ensuring balanced reproduction across the entire audible spectrum. The low range is well controlled and free from artificial emphasis, while the mid-high range maintains exemplary linearity both on and off-axis.
