Technical features
Q Acoustics 5020
The new 5000 Series from Q Acoustics is a range of stereo and home cinema speakers that will recalibrate your perceptions of what a speaker can look and sound like. Embodying a genuine and significant advancement in driver design, the revolutionary C3 Continuous Curved Cone™ mid/bass driver elevates the 5000 Series beyond any rated rival. Incorporating innovative cabinet technology first implemented in the company's flagship Concept range, the 5000 Series is as uncompromising on the inside as it is as sophisticated and contemporary on the outside
Refined and contemporary design
The reductive nature of the C3 Continuous Curved Cone's™ appearance is also reflected in the minimalist design of the 5000 Series, with its sophisticated yet contemporary lines that lean towards the elegant shape of the latest Concept speaker series. The baffle fronts are laminated with a layer of butyl rubber and black acrylic trim, not only to provide a layer of damping to suppress vibrations occurring in the baffle, but also to provide an eye-catching counterpoint to the aesthetically clean and uncluttered front presentation. interrupted by any fixing.
Mid/bass driver design
At the heart of the mid/bass driver design is the C3 Continuous Curved Cone™. The cone geometry requires good motor strength for optimal performance. Substantial magnets are coupled to large voice coils to increase the motor's strength - the result is a 50% increase in power handling and control compared to a comparable driver with a 25.4mm voice coil. The result is an improvement in the dynamic range of the speaker, especially in the bass region.
High frequency driver design
Based on the tweeter design principle found in the all-new Concept Series, the high-frequency driver unit is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated (floating) by the baffle to prevent internal pressure modulations from inside the cabinet and the adjacent mid/bass driver. The internal chamber is also carefully vented for less distortion, with a lower crossover point for seamless integration across the crossover region.
C 3 Curved Continuous Cone™
A true advancement in mid/bass driver design elements, the C 3 Continuous Curved Cone™ profile is the result of extensive research and expert engineering to combine the bass performance benefits of a traditional straight conical cone with high-frequency control /mediums of a flared cone.
By creating a single, smooth and continuous curved profile, the benefits are obvious. Its excellent dispersion, together with its well-controlled frequency response and reduced harmonic distortion, allows for smoother integration with the tweeter. Deep bass dynamics are also superior, with this and a tighter, more dampened low-end sound allowing for greater flexibility in speaker placement close to the wall boundaries of the listening room.
