Other characteristics
MartinLogan Foundation, entry level so to speak
MartinLogan boasts over 40 years of history, with a unique research and development laboratory in the world, equipped with the largest private anechoic chamber in North America.
Among the many excellences totally developed by the manufacturer, the thin film tweeter, and just to give an example.
First of all on board the range is the FMT S Gen2 tweeter, developed ad-hoc for Foundation, and combined with the Folded Motion waveguide: together they are able to offer great quality sound with homogeneous and controlled dispersion, guaranteeing the same performance throughout the room and reducing some of the negative effects of room acoustics. The Gen2 S-shaped tweeter uses an extremely low-mass diaphragm that "squeezes" the air, requiring significantly less excursion than a typical 1" dome tweeter. Folding the membrane into an accordion structure increases the reproducible surface area, keeping the dimensions of the tweeter relatively compact and thus allowing particularly clear and credible reproduction. The Folded Motion Waveguide, in addition to improving the coherence of reproduction, allows, as we said, an increase in the coverage area with controlled dispersion, which improves the natural emission of the tweeter by 10° in all directions, for a pattern of even 90° x 90°.
For the medium and low range, components with aluminum diaphragm have been developed ad-hoc, capable of offering low mass and great energy thanks also to the enhanced magnetic motor.
The McCracken-Vojtko Crossovers could not be missing, now a Martin Logan tradition, developed by the manufacturer over the years, and which now guarantees the best compromise between low distortion, room measurements and in-depth blind listening tests so as to develop a unique sound signature for each model.
Another aspect of great importance, much taken care of in the Foundation Series, is the compensation of the sound bounce of the floor, and to do this the Martin Logan engineers have designed the tower models by exploiting the floor to create a more coherent, natural and accurate sound than to conventional projects.
Finally, to complete a design that, although classic, presents numerous particularities, such as the 4 supports on the base that adapt to any floor surface, or the Stealth system that holds the grilles in position, allowing the listener to customize the appearance of each diffuser even allows you to rotate them to change the grain of the fabric.
Small size, but big voice. It is the smallest model in the Motion Foundation Series, amazing performance and positioning versatility.
