The new Wharfedale SUPER LINTON represents a major milestone in innovation for Wharfedale, making it a premier addition to the world’s best-selling Heritage series.

This updated model is part of a line of award-winning loudspeakers renowned for their exceptional musicality and which have won the hearts of tens of thousands of music lovers. Led by Peter Comeau, Director of Acoustic Design, Wharfedale engineers have revisited every aspect of the speaker design, including the cabinet, drive units and crossover. The result of their efforts is the newly updated Super Linton.

SUPER LINTON speakers are now available in 3 different finishes. Walnut, Mahogany and now Black Oak.

OVERVIEW

The current iteration of the Wharfedale LINTON was launched in 2019 and has since become one of the company’s most successful speakers… ever! Not just in terms of number of pairs sold, but also in terms of awards, accolades and endorsements from enthusiasts and the press.

As part of Wharfedale's world-famous Heritage series, LINTON can boldly but confidently claim to be one of the most astonishingly valuable loudspeakers of recent times.

LINTON is not only an exception in design, construction and style, but its industrial design and acoustic performance have been universally welcomed as a speaker that brings musicality back to music and romance to home hi-fi.

Still in top form and among the most sought-after speakers on the market, LINTON is not going away any time soon and remains a jewel in the crown of Wharfedale’s ever-popular Heritage series.

Unlike the ’67 SUPER LINTON, which was “Super” primarily in terms of its improved cabinet design, the new SUPER LINTON is truly SUPER in every way. Without belittling its sister, the current LINTON, the SUPER LINTON takes a step forward in engineering and performance in almost every respect. The result is a moderately more expensive but vastly more capable speaker that makes the perfect addition to the Heritage Series, offering an upgrade path for existing LINTON owners but also bridging the gap to the UK-made flagship DOVEDALE.

Super what and super how?

Like the original “Super” concept, the new SUPER LINTON benefits from a larger cabinet and Wharfedale’s unique sandwich cabinet design, featuring a combination of two layers of MDF complemented by a layer of acoustic damping glue that reduces resonance.

A new bass unit and more powerful motor system improve low-frequency performance, extending all the way down to 32Hz! This results in a more dramatic and impactful low end.

For treble output, the SUPER LINTON features a lightweight fabric dome coated with a special damping material and supported by a ceramic magnet motor system, contributing to its sweet, detailed character. The revised short horn profile ensures smooth response all the way into the mid-high range, and the new faceplate design improves high-frequency dispersion, matching the transient impact and detail of the new bass unit.

A new revised chamber for the midrange drive unit works to cancel midband-specific return waves through multiple layers of long-haired fibers, resulting in more natural prominence of vocal and instrument frequencies.

Recognisable by its ‘LINTON DNA’, the SUPER LINTON’s appearance is a modest upgrade. However, new considerations have been made to the driver array and cabinet dimensions. The SUPER LINTON is just 50mm/2 inches taller than the current LINTON model. This modest increase in size means that the SUPER LINTON requires no change in terms of footprint or spacing, in fact it is designed to use the same LINTON stand for optimum positioning… the much-appreciated benefit of LP storage remains!
