Opera Quinta v2: The Excellence of Listening in a Floorstanding Speaker
The Opera Quinta v2 represents the evolution of a project already appreciated by audiophiles, with a significant improvement in performance and dynamics. The result of a careful study on each component has allowed us to overcome the previous limits in terms of sensitivity, reaching a value of 91 dB, well above the previous threshold of 87-88 dB.
This feature guarantees not only a more powerful and enveloping sound, but also impeccable linearity, even at high volume levels. The optimization of the phase rotation has made the amplifier load less critical, improving compatibility even with limited-power electronics. The focus on driveability has allowed us to obtain a speaker that expresses its maximum potential without requiring exaggerated amplification.
The Opera Quinta v2 is a floorstanding speaker that represents the pinnacle of Italian acoustic engineering, combining refinement, performance and musicality. With a sensitivity of 91 dB, a wide frequency response and an optimized crossover with selected components, it offers an immersive and engaging listening experience.
Thanks to the collaboration with Scan Speak and the attention to construction details, this speaker stands out for its ability to recreate a realistic, natural and perfectly balanced sound, without compromise.
The elegant design and solid construction complete an already excellent picture, making the Opera Loudspeakers Quinta v2 a reference point for those looking for top-level sound in a refined and timeless speaker.
A project born from the collaboration with Scan Speak
This extraordinary speaker is the result of research work developed in synergy between the Italian company and Scan Speak, one of the most renowned speaker manufacturers in the world. The choice of transducers was crucial to obtaining a perfect balance between extension, sensitivity and distortion reduced to a minimum.
The 180 mm woofers, made with black anodized aluminum cones, offer a solid and articulated reproduction of low frequencies. The 150 mm midrange, with a coated fiberglass membrane, ensures a surprising naturalness of timbre. Completing the system, a 26 mm soft dome tweeter, equipped with a double ferrite magnet and aluminum front plate, capable of ensuring a detailed and airy reproduction of high frequencies.
This combination of drivers has resulted in a speaker that offers a frequency response between 42 Hz and 21 kHz, ensuring an impeccable balance between body, detail and three-dimensionality.
A cabinet designed to enhance the sound
The Opera Quinta v2 cabinet design is the result of careful optimization of proportions and materials. Every detail has been designed to minimize internal reflections and improve sound output in the listening environment.
Thanks to a structure without parallel walls and a studied relationship between the internal dimensions, it was possible to drastically reduce the standing waves, avoiding unwanted colorations of the sound. The result is a greater definition of the voices and a more natural reproduction of the instruments.
A further step forward was made with the use of accelerometers to precisely measure the sound pressure emitted by the surfaces of the furniture. This allowed the emission level to be optimized until it was practically imperceptible, well below the average ambient noise threshold.
Even the positioning of the speakers on the front baffle has been taken care of in the smallest details. The internal processes reduce the reflections that could pass through the speaker membranes, thus preserving the purity of the timbre and the precision of the sound image.
The rear reflex port has been designed to avoid turbulence, even at high volumes. This contributes to a more controlled reproduction of low frequencies, without resonances or smears.
Crossover and high-level components
One of the fundamental elements that characterize the sound quality of the Opera Quinta v2 is the crossover, designed to guarantee a perfect match between the transducers and optimize the phase response. Thanks to the use of very high quality components, such as Vishay anti-inductive resistors and Mundorf capacitors, it was possible to obtain a wide, precise and three-dimensional soundstage.
The crossover filter works on crossover frequencies at 250 Hz and 2300 Hz, ensuring a perfect transition between the woofer, midrange and tweeter. The choice of audiophile-grade components not only improves initial performance, but ensures consistent sound quality over time.
The goal of the project was to prioritize the listening experience over simple technical parameters. Often, in fact, standard measurements fail to capture many of the characteristics that make a speaker truly musical.
