Building on the legacy of the award-winning 6000A, the Audiolab 6000A MKII introduces key innovations inspired by the flagship 9000A and 7000A, both versatile models. With refined circuitry and improved performance, it continues Audiolab’s tradition of delivering exceptional sound at an affordable price, perfect for audiophiles seeking premium audio from a brand with over 40 years of innovation.

A step forward in every aspect

The 6000A MKII retains the original’s position as an affordable yet stunning “step-up” amplifier, perfect for the entry-level audiophile but with significant improvements in sound and functionality. Aesthetically, the MKII mirrors its predecessor, maintaining seamless integration with existing 6000, 7000 and 9000 Series components.

Key improvements

Improved power supply and transformer

The Audiolab 6000A MKII uses an improved transformer and implementation. Higher voltage is delivered by the transformer secondary windings and lower impedance for better control of the supply voltage. The result is a typical Audiolab sonic signature: remarkable sonic texture, deeply engaging, with crisp definition, incredible dynamics and rhythmic timing.

A substantial 200VA toroidal transformer is followed by 4 x 15000µF reserve capacitors for the power amplifier supply (30000µF per line).

This helps the amplifier maintain firm control of the music, while allowing for excellent dynamic range.

Advanced DAC technology

Audiolab has improved the DAC performance with the new ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M chipset, an upgrade over the ES9018 in the original 6000A. This flagship DAC supports 32-bit/768kHz PCM and features HyperStream® II architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator for ultra-low noise and exceptional dynamic range. Building on the 7000A DAC design, the MKII also benefits from a new Class A circuit in the post-DAC active filter stage, providing a more refined listening experience.

Extended connectivity

Then there’s connectivity: state-of-the-art digital-to-analog conversion enables four S/PDIF inputs and a new HDMI ARC input for convenient AV system integration – a key improvement over the original model and a new “must-have” for a growing number of modern audiophiles. Finally, there’s a Bluetooth 5.1 aptX HD receiver, for optimal range, speed and performance when streaming via Bluetooth.

Class AB amplification:

pedigree audiofilo

Unlike the growing trend of Class D amplifiers offered by competitors at this price point, the 6000A MKII stays true to Audiolab’s audiophile tradition with a Class AB power amplifier. The amplifier delivers 50W per channel, with a peak current of 11A into complex loads. The amplifier’s Complementary Feedback (CFB) topology ensures superior linearity and thermal stability, keeping the quiescent current independent of the temperature of the output transistors.

Signal purity and flexibility

The 6000A MKII’s preamplifier section continues Audiolab’s minimalist philosophy for maximum signal purity. Precision analog volume control and independent low-noise power supplies deliver performance that rivals significantly more expensive analog amplifiers.

The other inputs continue to analog RCA and a phono stage with a dedicated high-quality low-noise circuit with precise RIAA equalization. Not to mention the now Audiolab standard dedicated headphone amplifier, also equipped with a current feedback circuit. Its wide gain bandwidth and high slew rate ensure dynamic, detailed and engaging performance with any type of headphones: more requirements for this integrated amplifier, the most integrated of all.

Multifunctional operating modes

Multifunctional operating modes are also implemented as standard: "Integrated" – a combination of the pre-amplification and power stages. "Pre" – which turns the unit into a dedicated pre-amplifier. And the "Pre Power" mode – a unique mode that separates the pre-amplification and power stages:

"Pre-Power Mode" disconnects the preamp and power stages, allowing the 6000A MKII to be used solely as a power amplifier, for example connected to an AV processor in a home cinema system. It also allows for further signal processing by connecting the 6000A's "Preamp Out" socket to an external processor and feeding the processor's output back to the amplifier's "Power Amp In" socket.
